Socializing in Japan for foreigners has gotten a whole lot easier.
The Japanese social networking site Mixi (ミクシイ) has changed their registration policy. For about a year, Mixi required new users to enter a Japanese mobile phone email address to verify their registrations.
This is no longer the case, users no longer need a Japanese mobile account.
How do I get a Mixi ミクシイ account?
Although a Japanese mobile phone number is no longer required, the social network is still invitation only, so you must receive an invitation from someone who is already a member to register an account. Find someone who has an account and ask them for an invite.

Do you need a Mixi ミクシイ invite? Please leave your email on this post. For those of you who are lucky enough to have Mixi already, please grant these people an invite. Let’s help each other out!
Well, I would be glad to give it a try: shmurk@gmail.com (does it count as a bonus if I’m reading “Remembering the Kanji”?)
I’m also on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Stony.san
I’ve always been a samurai trapped in a U.S. citizens body. I am Buddhist, I love all things to do with samurai, japanese history, and asia in general. I had even lived in the Republic of Korea for a year, and, from there, spent a week visiting Tokyo. I am studied in Aikido, and am currently branching into Kung Fu and Tai Chi (yes, I know that the latter two are Chinese martial arts). I am most currently teaching myself the Japanese language, so hajimete o-me ni kakarimasu! My favorite films are samurai and martial arts films. And, finally, I would love an invite!
Please invite me! That’s great news I thought I couldn’t get a Mixi account. Thanks
